Lake Como offers picturesque hamlets, historic villas and breathtaking views. It is the ideal destination for nature lovers and curious tourists.
Well known since Roman times, Lake Como became popular thanks to the Italian novel “I Promessi Sposi”, written by Alessandro Manzoni, that was set on the eastern branch of the lake. Nowadays it is famous all over the world for its natural beauties and hidden jems.
This itinerary takes us to two beautiful villages: Varenna and Bellagio.
Drive to Varenna, about 35 kilometres from the hotel. We suggest parking your car in Via Roma, 3 (beginning of the village) or Via della Stazione, 2 (near the railway station).
Varenna is located on the eastern branch of Lake Como, not far from Lecco. It is famous for its breathtaking views of the lake. You mustn't miss: Villa Monastero and its gardens, Villa Cipressi park and Vezio Castle.
After visiting Varenna, you can go to Bellagio by ferry boat: you will save time and enjoy the marvellous trip. You can park in Via Lungolago Europa, 5 - near the ferry boat station.
Bellagio is known as the “Pearl of the Lake”: it is characterised by old buildings, picturesque cobbled lanes and little shops featuring the finest Italian craft ware. You should not miss Villa Melzi gardens (especially in April and May when the azaleas and rhododendrons are blooming) and Villa Serbelloni park.
